The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) announced that Johanna Söderström has been named corporate vice president of Human Resources and Corporate Aviation. Söderström succeeds Gregory Freiwald, who has announced his retirement from Dow after 35 years with the Company. Söderström joined Dow in 1999 in Helsinki, Finland as the HR manager for the Nordic region. In 2000, she moved to Stade, Germany to serve as HR Workforce Planning Implementation leader and in 2003, was appointed Compensation & Benefits leader for Southern Europe, Middle East, Africa and India in Horgen, Switzerland. In 2005, Söderström assumed the role of HR Business Partner for Dow’s Hydrocarbons & Energy business. After leaving Dow in 2006 to lead global Compensation & Benefits for Huhtamaki in Finland, Söderström rejoined Dow the next year as HR Geographic leader for Germany, and in 2009 assumed additional responsibility as HR director for Dow Europe, Middle East & Africa. In 2010, Söderström was appointed Global HR director for Dow’s Performance Materials Division in Midland, Mich., and was named vice president of Dow’s HR Center of Expertise in September 2012.
Questar Assessment Inc. announced that Jeffrey Zibley has joined the organization as its new Vice President of Human Resources. Zibley comes to Questar Assessment with more than 30 years of experience leading organizational change, continuous improvement and cost-effective growth strategies at Second Harvest Heartland, Malt-O-Meal and Catallia Mexican Foods.
Heidrick & Struggles (NASDAQ: HSII) announced that it would appoint Richard “Rick” Greene as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, effective January 1, 2015. Greene recently rejoined Heidrick & Struggles after three years at Bunge, where he was both the head of global talent management and the lead HR executive for the global Food & Ingredients segment. During his earlier tenure with Heidrick & Struggles, Rick led the firm’s Leadership Consulting and Chief Human Resources Officer practices in the Americas.
ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI) has named Jim Lawler senior vice president for human resources (HR). Mr. Lawler replaces Candice Mendenhall, who is retiring. Mr. Lawler comes to ICF from TASC, Inc., where he served as chief HR officer. Prior to joining TASC, Mr. Lawler served in several senior HR positions at leading global companies, including chief HR officer for Amsterdam-based Royal Ahold, executive vice president of HR for Giant Foods, senior vice president for human resources (CFP Sector) at UK-based Rexam PLC, and various HR-related vice president and director roles at PepsiCo in the United States, Europe and Africa.
Windstream (NASDAQ: WIN) announced that David Works, executive vice president and chief human resources officer, has been named president of enterprise. Works previously served as the chief human resources officer for Sears Holdings in Chicago. Prior to joining Sears, Works was a partner at ghSMART. He also held positions with McKinsey & Company and Motorola.
Agios Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: AGIO) announced the addition of Kaye Foster-Cheek as an independent director to the company’s board of directors. Agios’ board also appointed Ms. Foster-Cheek as a member of its compensation committee. Ms. Foster-Cheek is the former senior vice president, global human resources at Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. an Amgen subsidiary. Prior to joining Onyx, Ms. Foster-Cheek was global vice president of human resources and an executive committee member at Johnson and Johnson from 2003 to 2010. Before Johnson and Johnson, Ms. Foster-Cheek held several senior human resources executive positions with Pfizer Inc. Prior to that, she gained 10 years of operational experience at The Yellow Pages.
