Apttus [SAN MATEO, Calif.] announced the hiring of Don Robertson as its Chief People Officer. Robertson joins Apttus from Sutherland Global Services, Truecar and recently Hewlett Packard. He has worked in finance positions for companies including GE Capital Corp., the Stanford Research Institute and The Clorox Co.
General Dynamics [FALLS CHURCH, Va.] (NYSE: GD) announced that M. Amy Gilliland will become the Deputy for Operations for General Dynamics Information Technology. Kimberly A. Kuryea, vice president and controller of the corporation, will succeed Gilliland as the company’s senior vice president, Human Resources and Administration. These appointments are effective April 1, 2017. Gilliland became General Dynamics’ senior vice president, Human Resources and Administration in April 2015. She was appointed a vice president of General Dynamics in February 2014. Previously, she was the staff vice president of Strategic Planning and chief of staff for the chief executive officer from 2012 to 2013, staff vice president of Investor Relations from 2008 to 2012, and director of strategic planning from 2005 to 2008. Kuryea was appointed vice president and controller in 2011. Previously, she was chief financial officer of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems from 2007 to 2011 and staff vice president, Internal Audit from 2004 to 2007. Prior to joining General Dynamics in 2000 as director of Financial Planning and Analysis, Kuryea worked for Arthur Andersen LLP in its government contracting practice.
International Paper [MEMPHIS, Tenn.] (NYSE: IP) announced that Thomas J. Plath has been appointed Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Global Citizenship. Mr. Plath joined International Paper in 1991, serving most recently as Vice President, Human Resources, Global Businesses. The company also announced the retirement of Thomas G. Kadien, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Government Relations and Global Citizenship. Mr. Kadien joined the company in 1978 and will retire effective June 30, 2017.
Fifth Third Bancorp [CINCINNATI] (NASDAQ: FITB) announced that Robert Shaffer has been named its chief human resources officer. Shaffer previously served as chief auditor, a post he had held since August 2007. He also had been promoted to executive vice president in February 2010. Shaffer joined Fifth Third in 2002 as group audit manager. He was promoted to director of financial audit in 2003 before becoming chief auditor. Prior to joining Fifth Third Bank, Shaffer served as a partner in Arthur Andersen’s Business Advisory Practice in Chicago. He began his career with KPMG’s Assurance Service Practice in Pittsburgh in 1991.
