New York Life announced that Senior Vice President Katherine O’Brien has been elected Chief Human Resources Officer, effective January 1, 2014. Ms. O’Brien is currently senior vice president and chief corporate counsel, leading all corporate practice teams in the Office of the General Counsel. Previously, she was first vice president and deputy general counsel in the Office of the General Counsel after serving as the company’s first chief diversity officer in the Human Resources Department for two years. Prior to that, Ms. O’Brien held positions of increasing responsibility in the Office of the General Counsel. She joined New York Life in 1995 as a litigator, specializing in employment litigation and benefits compliance. Prior to joining New York Life, Ms. O’Brien worked with several law firms in New York in general commercial litigation.
Workday, Inc. (NYSE: WDAY) appointed Ashley Goldsmith as the company’s chief human resources officer (CHRO). Prior to joining Workday, Ashley served as CHRO and executive vice president at Polycom. Preceding Polycom, she was senior vice president of human resources, corporate communications, and environmental health and safety for the Tissue Diagnostics Division at F. Hoffmann-La Roche. Ashley has also previously served as CHRO at Ventana Medical Systems and vice president of human resources for the Northern Division of The Home Depot.
U-Haul International, Inc. announced that Angie DeWinter has been named Vice President of U-Haul Human Resources, replacing Butch Greer who will be retiring. DeWinter began her career at U-Haul in 1985 as an accounting clerk. In 1986, she held the position as Payroll Supervisor, then in January 1989 became lead information auditor. DeWinter was then promoted to the position of supervisor of U-Haul Employment Benefits in December 1992, and in June 1999 she assumed the role of manager of U-Haul Medical Benefits, a position she held until 2007 when she was named director of U-Haul Human Resources Operations.
GE (NYSE: GE) announced the appointment of Harry Elsinga, as vice president, Human Resources, GE Oil & Gas. Harry has been with GE for 17 years, holding several HR leadership roles across the Company. He was a Senior HR Manager for GE’s Global Growth & Operations organization, managed executive development in GE Corporate, and held multiple roles in the former GE Advanced Materials business.
Sabre appointed Bill Robinson as executive vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer. Robinson most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer for Coventry Health Care. Prior to that he was at GE, where he held several HR roles, most recently within the Enterprise Solutions division. Robinson was also with Outcomes Health Information Solutions LLC.
GoodData® announced the addition of Divyasmita Ghatak as Chief People Officer. Ghatak joins GoodData from Cisco Systems where she led talent and implementation of people strategy for SaaS and Collaboration, assuming HR responsibility for 4,500 employees globally. Prior to Cisco, she served as Director of Human Resources for North American Operations at Tavant Technologies. Previously, Ghatak founded and served as CEO for Venturis India, an executive search firm that placed candidates with multinational firms in India.
The Recording Academy® announced the promotion of Gaetano Frizzi to Chief Human Resources Officer. Previously, Frizzi was Vice President, Human Resources & Development. He has held senior HR positions with Columbia Pictures Entertainment, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and MTV Networks/Nickelodeon Animation Studios.
The ServiceMaster Company announced that Susan Hunsberger has been named senior vice president of human resources. Hunsberger joins ServiceMaster from Nielsen. Hunsberger served as senior vice president, human resources, for the global business solutions (GBS) group of Nielsen. Prior to working for Nielsen, Hunsberger spent more than 12 years in a variety of HR leadership positions at GE Aviation, an operating unit of General Electric Company based in Cincinnati. Before GE, she worked in HR roles at Johnson & Johnson and Marathon Oil. Hunsberger is succeeding Jed Norden, who has been ServiceMaster’s senior vice president of human resources since 2008, and recently announced his retirement.
