Lyft [SAN FRANCISCO] announced that Nilka Thomas is returning to Lyft to serve as Chief People Officer. Thomas first joined Lyft in 2018 as Vice President of Talent Acquisition & Inclusion, after more than a decade at Google. Most recently, Thomas served as Chief People Officer at SeatGeek. Thomas succeeds Emily Nishi, who served as Lyft’s Chief People Officer for three years.
Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. [NEW YORK] (NYSE: MMC) announced that effective January 1, Carmen Fernandez will be promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer from her Deputy CHRO role. Fernandez succeeds Laurie Ledford, who will retire from the Company at the end of the year. Over her 15-year career at Marsh & McLennan, Fernandez has served as CHRO of Guy Carpenter and held various HR leadership roles at Mercer, including North America HR Leader and Global HR Leader for the Career business.
Silicon Labs [AUSTIN, TX] (NASDAQ: SLAB) announced Serena Townsend, formerly vice president of Human Resources, has been promoted to senior vice president and chief people officer. Lori Knowlton, previously senior vice president and chief people officer, is leaving Silicon Labs to focus on family and pursue other interests. Townsend joined Silicon Labs in February 2017 as director, HR business partners. She was promoted to vice president, HR business partners in March 2020. Before joining Silicon Labs, Townsend held various HR leadership positions at companies including Samsung Austin Semiconductor and HomeAway (Expedia).
Shutterstock, Inc. [NEW YORK] (NYSE: SSTK) announced Sara Birmingham is joining the company’s leadership team as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Birmingham has spent the majority of her career at Thomson Reuters, most recently serving as the Global Head of Human Resources for Reuters news business.
Sema4 [STAMFORD, CT] announced that Karen White has joined the company as Chief People Officer. White has come to Sema4 from Syneos Health, where she was Vice President of Human Resources for Commercial Solutions. Prior to joining Syneos Health, White held senior HR roles at other companies in the healthcare space, including inVentiv Health Consulting and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Before that, White held positions at large global organizations such as Goldman Sachs, IBM, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
ActiGraph [PENSACOLA, FL] announced the hiring of Scott Ginnetti as Vice President of Human Resources and Culture. Ginnetti most recently served as the Vice President of Transformation & People at Intelligent Retinal Imaging System (IRIS). He has also held progressive strategic leadership roles at Signature HealthCare, Baptist Health Care, and The Home Depot.
GreenLight Biosciences, Inc. [BOSTON] announced Charu Manocha as the company’s new Chief People Officer. Manocha joins GreenLight Biosciences after serving as Group Vice President of Talent Strategies for Bright Horizons Family Solutions. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Human Resources at iRobot. Manocha began her career at Packard Electric Systems, a division of General Motors and has also led talent and HR functions at Keurig Green Mountain, Dana Holding Corporation and Delphi Automotive Systems.
Transit Wireless [NEW YORK] promoted Louise Butler Golding to Senior Vice President of People and Business Operations. Golding started her career at RBS as a private banker, where she worked for over 15 years developing her career in M&A and global transformation, from both London and New York. She has worked in several industries including telecommunications, smart IoT, broadcast and media, consulting, and education.
Central Logic [SANDY, UTAH AND MINNEAPOLIS] announced the appointment of Maija Costello as Vice President of People & Culture. Prior to joining Central Logic, she was a Management Consultant Manager at Accenture. Other previous healthcare-related positions include People Operations Manager at Bloom Health in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
Bailard [FOSTER CITY, CA] hired Kyle Berkley as Vice President of Human Resources. Prior to joining Bailard, Berkley spent eight years working in recruiting, human resources, and people analytics at firms including Two Sigma and Lyft.
Acelero Learning [NEW YORK] and Shine Early Learning announced the hiring of Dr. Lydia Carlis as Chief Program & People Officer. Carlis will begin her new role on November 16th. Carlis most recently served as Principal Consultant for eyemaginED. Prior to starting eyemaginED, Carlis served as the Chief of Research and Innovation for AppleTree Institute for Education Innovation.
Havas Creative North America [NEW YORK] appointed Claire Telling, former CEO of global executive search firm Grace Blue North America, as Chief People Officer (CPO), a new position within the network. Prior to Grace Blue, Telling spent a decade at agencies including BBH, TBWA\Chiat and 72andSunny, working on brands including Miller Lite, Mentos, Unilever, Pedigree, Singapore Airlines and Sonos. The marketing executive also spent time client-side at Shopping.com, where she led the U.S. advertising team as marketing director before moving to London to set up the company’s European operations. After spending several years in London, Telling returned to New York to work at British Airways managing the airline’s marketing and brand strategy.
